Tyler Waguespack, who is the two-time world champion in steer wrestling, won the second go-round Friday. The Thomas and Mack Center witnessed Tyler bring down the steer in only 3.6 seconds.

World Champion Tyler Waguespack

Waguespack, who is 29 years old, is from Gonzales, Louisiana collected $26,231 and now is shooting for his third world title. He was in second at the beginning of Friday night, however, he shined like the superstar steer wrestler that he is.

Tyler started his career with a “might” be good enough to win attitude. However, Tyler has since changed his tune after winning two world championships in steer wrestling. Tyler has grown into a great steer wrestler and right now, he is unstoppable.

Friday night Waguespack mentioned that the steers “were a little rougher tonight than they were last night,” in regard to Friday nights competition. He felt that his steer was fine though, and he maintained his confidence when he went out to compete.

Tyler knew he was going to have a good run and he knew that that run would keep him in contention for another world championship. This two-time world champion won his first title in 2016 and the second world championship title was won last year. He is very focused and has been training hard.

Tyler’s main goal, besides winning a world title is to make sure that he is getting the best times that he can in the last remaining rounds. Tyler has eight go-rounds left to get some record times.

He would love to win the golden buckle and to make it three. He really wants to do well and let everything fall into place. He’s trained, focused, and ready to take on tonight’s draw.

Tyler is in contention to win his third world title this year and we couldn’t be more excited for him. If you want to see Tyler compete in the rest of the National Finals Rodeo, check you local listings on your CBS Sports Network channel. If you do not have the CBS Sports Network, now is a great time to call your cable service provider. The excitement continues tonight and every night until December 14th. The National Finals Rodeo begins at 7:00 pm Eastern Standard Time.
